NVMe is not a product class
NVMe is a protocol, not a product tier. Client SSDs commonly target PC boot, creative work and intermittent loads; enterprise SSDs are selected for longer-running, concurrent data-center workloads. SNIA's classification material distinguishes data-center, enterprise-server and low-latency use cases.
Compare six dimensions
Review endurance, steady-state performance, latency distribution and QoS, power-event recovery, firmware/manageability and the form factor/service model. TBW and DWPD must be read together with capacity, warranty and actual writes.
Use a workload-specification-validation matrix
For each node role, document data criticality and workload, map required capacity/endurance/interface/form factor/recovery, then list compatibility, stress, thermal and restart/power-event validation. This is more sustainable than a single price-driven drive list.
